The local tour in Anyang City,
to be scheduled in the afternoon of July 10, 2008, will include a visit to
The China Cotton Research Institute (CCRI)
and Yin Ruins.
Anyang, one of the eight ancient capital cities in China, is located in the northernmost part of the Henan Province with the geographical coordinates of 113037' -- 114058'E and 35012' -- 36022'N and nearby with three provinces of Shanxi, Hebei and Shandong. Anyang City, in fact, is at the center of the Northern China Plane. The city lies to the west of the Taihang Mountains and connects in the east to Huanhe River (or namely Yellow River). It has a continental monsoon climate of the northern temperate zone. It has four seasons, adequate sunlight, concentrated rain and pleasant weather. Its annual average temperature is 14.10 C and annual average rainfall is 556.8mm. In early July, the temperature in Anyang is higher (about 26 C) than the average.
CCRI was established in 1957.
The institute was ranked as the second among 1,220 Chinese national agricultural research units
and was named as the sixth among the top ten Chinese strongerest agricultural research units on
basic studies that were evaluated by the China's Ministry of Agriculture in 1996.
Yin Ruins is listed as a world cultural
heritage site at the 30th session of the UNESCO
World Cultural Heritage Committee held in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, July 13, 2006. The 3000-year-old
Yin Ruins in Anyang city of central China's Henan province was the capital of Shang Dynasty
(1600BC-1100BC). It is one of the eight most ancient capital cities in China.
